Author Biography

A. Edward Newton (1864-1940) was a writer, book collector, traveler, family man, and businessman. He served as president of the Cutter Electric Equipment Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, which enabled him to delve into the vast and expensive world of book collecting. Over his lifetime, Newton accumulated over 10,000 books and rare articles. Since the publication of its first edition, his Amenities has sold over 25,000 copies. Katherine Mead-Brewer is a writer living in Baltimore, Maryland. She published her first book, The Trickster in Ginsberg: A Critical Reading, in May of 2013. She earned her MA in American Studies from the George Washington University and currently serves as an editor with Bancroft Press.
